Thomas (Tom) Shannon serves the interests of a broad group of business clients, their owners and families in such areas as corporate law, real estate, business acquisitions and dispositions, environmental law, creditor’s rights and commercial transactions.
Tom is known for aggressively representing his clients’ interests, many of which he has represented for decades. He has successfully guided his corporate clients through outside and in-house challenges to their business’ financial viability.
Tom prides himself on his personal attentiveness to every component of his clients’ legal needs. This overreaching approach reflects Tom’s involvement in virtually all civil legal areas, including corporate structuring, mergers and acquisitions, commercial code transactions and bankruptcy.
The strength of Tom’s relationship with his clients is measured by the fact that many of his professional relationships have evolved into strong personal friendships. And he is anything but bashful in his feelings about the strengths of the firm.
“We are one of the best kept secrets in the Milwaukee area,” Tom says. “By effectively managing staffing and overhead, we provide our clients with the highest quality legal services at a fraction of the cost of larger firms. We’ve got a great group of dedicated, hardworking lawyers, and we give our clients what they expect and deserve: direct contact and representation by highly experienced and capable attorneys, decisive advice, solutions not questions, and aggressive representation when the circumstances require.”
Born and raised in the Chicago area, Tom graduated from Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Illinois and went on to pursue undergraduate studies in marketing at the University of Notre Dame, graduating cum laude in 1969 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. While at Notre Dame, Tom was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma honorary business fraternity and the Notre Dame Monogram Club.
Upon graduation from Notre Dame, Tom was commissioned as an officer in the Army. He returned to the “Windy City” and pursued studies in law at Northwestern University Law School, graduating cum laude in 1972. After a brief tour of active duty in the Army, he joined the firm in 1973. Recalling his decision at that time, Tom fondly reflects on the character of the firm that attracted him to Milwaukee.
Tom and his wife, Kerry, live in Delafield. They have five children, Tim, Meghan, Brian, Kevin and Cailin. Tom has taken an active role in their academic and athletic development, having served over the years as president of the home and school association for their grade school, coach of numerous t-ball, softball and basketball teams, and director and President of the Marquette University High School Fathers’ Club.
