Litigation: Complex Cases

Fox, O'Neill & Shannon, S.C. litigates all cases brought for or against its clients. However, the firm's experience and expertise extends beyond routine cases involving relatively straight forward claims.

The firm has litigated complex cases involving complicated facts and legal issues, including anti-trust, unfair sales, securities, and environmental disputes. The firm has also litigated cases with many parties on each side, as happens in class actions or products liability lawsuits.

Complex cases typically involve thousands of documents. To efficiently retain, categorize, analyze and use these documents in the most cost effective way, the firm uses sophisticated document search and management software and computer technologies.

In addition to having two of its attorneys licensed to practice law in Illinois, firm attorneys have been admitted to practice on a pro hac vice basis, for particular cases, in multiple states. Our attorneys are prepared to litigate wherever clients' needs take us. The firm's legal research expertise, including internet-based research, enables attorneys working on cases venued throughout the country to obtain and have before them all states' laws, judicial decisions, and court procedures.

Complex litigation can arise through a number of specialized legal claims or fact patterns, such as anti-trust, discrimination, wage and hour, construction, and environmental areas. Litigation can also be complex due to the number of parties involved, such as product liability class action litigation or business or estate litigation involving complex fact issues. Litigation can also be complex due to the sheer volume of documents involved, such as public construction and finance, interest arbitrations and product liability, or because a case involves the application of the laws of several states, as in multi-state insurance coverage litigation.
